What would happen if we had to manage without US software for just one day?
This was the question that started it all. Triggered by the global political situation, it sparked an important thought process for us a few months ago.
This was followed by other key questions: Where is our most important data stored (documents, emails, documentation, our entire company know-how)? Does this data really belong to us? Who has access to it? Which services can we actually switch over? How will our internal and external digital communication work in the future?
These considerations gave rise to our digital independence initiative.
First step – already successfully implemented: Away from Microsoft OneDrive, towards Nextcloud Files. Completely under our own control – hosted by IONOS in Germany.
A nice side effect: We are also saving licence costs in the medium and long term.
